    Provo | Orem

A land of towering mountains, waterfalls, scenic drives, and pleasant communities. Provo is the third-largest city in Utah. The metro area often ranks near the top of national polls regarding desirable places to live, work and play. One key reason is the accessibility to recreational areas. The Provo/Orem area provides easy access to the national parks and canyon country of southern Utah and also the mountains and ski resorts in the northern part of the state. Provo is located about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City, within easy driving distance of Salt Lake’s downtown governmental and business district and the Salt Lake International Airport. Provo is bounded on the east by towering mountain peaks, and on the west by Utah Lake. Brigham Young University and nearby Utah Valley University bring many artistic, cultural and sporting events to the Provo/Orem community.

    Parks and Recreation

Some of Utah’s most popular mountain trails are found in the Provo/Utah Valley area, including Mount Timpanogos, Mount Nebo, and Stewart Falls. The Provo River offers a premier blue ribbon trout fishery close to Utah’s major cities. Brown and rainbow trout reach record lengths in the Provo, with a typical fish running 18 inches or bigger. In some areas, the Provo offers 3,000 or more trout per mile. As a result, the pristine waters of the Provo River provide exceptional recreation. Other great areas to check out are Thanksgiving Point, Utah Lake, and Timpanogos Cave.
